*Volume charge is based on the average water use during the months of December, January, and February. The average is recalculated each year.

Sample calculation of sewer bill during period of March 2004 through February 2005:

Month: Any month, beginning March 2004 and ending February 2005
Use: 12,000 gallons as determined by averaging the water use determined by water meter reading for the months of December 2003, January 2004, and February 2004.
December water use from meter readings: 14,000 gallons
January water use from meter readings: 12,000 gallons
February water use from meter readings: 10,000 gallons
Total water use = 14,000 + 12,000 + 10,000 = 36,000 gallons
Average water use = 36,000 gallons / 3 months = 12,000 gallons
Amount of sewer bill = $15.00 basic service charge + 12,000 gallons X $5.00 per thousand
Amount of sewer bill = $75.00

*Note: Customers can minimize their sewer bill throughout the year by minimizing un-necessary water usage during the months of December, January, and February.
